Walter Football’s Walter Cherepinsky and Charlie Campbell

Walter and Charlie both went with defensive players on the front seven for the Saints at the 10th overall pick although the choices may surprise some because it did for me.

For his first rounder Walter has the Saints talking Baylor defensive tackle Andrew Billings (6-1, 310 lbs.) followed in the second round with defensive end Jonathan Bullard from Florida and in the third round he selected Mississippi State cornerback Will Redmond.

In Charlie’s mock he went with Georgia linebacker Leonard Floyd (6-3, 232 lbs.) followed by Alabama defensive tackle Jarran Reed in the second round and Ole Miss tight end Evan Engram (Engram announced he’d be returning for his senior season recently).

My take:  While defensive tackle or linebacker is looking to be a good candidate for a Saints first round selection, I don’t know if either Billings or Floyd would be right selection right now with the team needing a sure fire home run at that spot.

Jarran Reed would be a big steal for the Saints in my opinion if he slipped to the second round; but going cornerback in the third round could still be an iffy proposition as in Walter’s mock.

Once again: I agree that the Saints need to upgrade their tight end spot but if they were to do so as in Charlie’s mock in the third round, they’ll have to hit a bullseye.
