Ed Orgeron would be a popular choice.
He is already in house, and promoting is easier than hiring from outside the program.
He is a Louisiana native, and is popular with fans and recruits.
Actually Coach O is a little more than popular with recruits. He is a legendary recruiter of defensive talent and he is widely regarded among the all time greats at that critical skill.
Obviously, Les Miles would have good cause to stay “in house” with Coach O.
