Moxie..

That’s what quarterback Drew Brees said about his former backup when asked to describe Chase Daniel and it has stuck with him and also I guess reinvigorated the use of the word moxie..so he’s got that going for him.

Signed after being waived by the Washington Redskins in 2009, Daniel became somewhat of a fan favorite and was considered a poor man’s Brees with both having similar measurables, play-style, and work ethic.

Brees always gushed over Daniel whenever he had the chance and the former Missouri Tiger stepped up to the plate and lead the team during 2012 offseason workouts while Brees was negotiating a new contract with the Saints and wasn’t present.

In 2013 Daniel was able to parlay his time with the Saints into a 3-yr, $10 million dollar contract with the Kansas City Chiefs which was triple in length and money to his past deal with the Saints who would loved to have kept him but not at that price.

At 29 years of age Daniel is still young and would likely fit right in if the Saints were to sign him, but the question is for how much?

Luke McCown has proven to be a solid backup during his time in New Orleans and Matt Flynn is also there waiting in the wings if they want to go with someone else so Daniel probably isn’t bring his moxie back to the Big Easy.
