RUNNING BACKS: Mark Ingram, C.J Spiller, Tim Hightower, Daniel Lasco, John Kuhn. (5)

Entering camp the Saints had six quality backs, but all six can not stay on the team.

I have the Saints keeping 5 of them including the fullback, John Kuhn. Also, this was my position battle to watch going into camp.

After the Saints took Daniel Lasco in the 7th round the 2016 NFL Draft, it immediately became Marcus Murphy’s job to lose; and after the 2 muffed punts in Preseason and a concussion which may prevent him from playing Thursday Night against the Ravens, it looks like Murphy did just that.

As they both return with similar 4 Year, 16 Million dollar contracts, there is no question that Ingram and Spiller will make the team. That’s despite a disappointing year from C.J Spiller and another year that was ended by injury for Ingram.

Hightower came off a great comeback storied year and should cement his spot as Ingram’s true back up, which leaves one last spot open.

I gave the final RB spot to Lasco, who said he is fine after the hit on Friday that gave him a concussion. Lasco looks up the final spot due to his play on special teams, as a gunner and possible return man on Special Teams.
