LOSER: COBY FLEENER, TIGHT END

More so than ANY other player who’s been listed among the “losers” in this weekly article, Fleener once again makes an appearance this week, as the belief that he is yet another “free agent bust” becomes closer to reality with each passing day.

On a day where Drew Brees had a season high 37 completions, passed for 389 yards (the first time the Cardinals defense had surrendered a 300 yard passer this year), had 4 TD passes and a QB rating of 127.9, Fleener managed to contribute a very marginal stat line of 2 catches for 10 yards.

With back-up TE Josh Hill out for the remainder of the season, it was hoped that Fleener would “pick up the slack” at the TE position, but he hasn’t come anywhere close to doing it.

The Saints invested $45 million in Fleener, but at this point should be kicking themselves in the ass for signing him and ought to be figuring out some way to get a refund.
