New Orleans Saints: Why the Saints can still make a Super Bowl run
By Jason Reed
1. The rest of the NFC South is hot garbage
Okay, calling the rest of the NFC South hot garbage is probably a bit far-fetched and rude by the south is primed to be the worst division in football this year, especially if the Saints end up only being a nine-win team (which we will get to later).
The funny thing is that eight games might even be enough to win this division. This is not the same tough division that it was two years ago. This is a division that is full of quarterback question marks that leads to bad play.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers do look better than last season as the defense has been solid in two weeks and they actually have a running game. However, Jameis Winston alone is going to lose the Bucs eight games this year.
The Carolina Panthers have the roster to contend but went on an extreme cold spell to end last year that has carried into this year. Cam Newton is banged up and not himself and without him this offense just is not the same.
The Atlanta Falcons are the team on paper that could take this division with Brees being out but Matt Ryan has taken a big step back at the quarterback position and the team is poorly coached. They have not given us any reason to believe that they will put it all together.
