3) The Playoffs Are Still A Possibility

The Playoffs are still within the Tigers grasp. They no longer control their own destiny, that much is true. But they still have opportunity.

In the most recent College Football Playoff Committee rankings the Tigers were in 9th place. Sounds like a long hil to climb, but there are matchups between three pairs of teams ranked in front of them, which means they can get a three placement bump just by standing still.

The playoff formula is a bit more complicated than that. LSU has to win out, they can’t get in as a two loss team. They also need some help, a couple of key upsets to clear the path. Dominant wins will not hurt their cause either.

None of the scenarios for LSU making it in are far fetched. There are always upsets down the stretch, and there will always be a lot of juggling of teams before the final playoff lineup is announced.

If LSU handles their business and wins the games they have left a playoff invitation is a very real possibility.
